"There's nothing else up here like this."

Be my neighbor at NRC

Tim Goodwin, NRC lot ownerI remember the first tour I took of the Nantahala River Club. "There's nothing else up here like this," is exactly what I thought. The roads were impeccably designed with wide, sweeping turns; the banks and ditches were clean, easy, and attractive and the power was underground; the building sites were perfectly placed; and the location: well, let's just say "ideal."

So all the technical aspects of buying land in the mountains were checked off my list. This was certainly looking good. But what came next was the big surprise. In an incredibly short period of exploring this place, I got a feeling that is hard to describe. It felt like home. After years of being in Western North Carolina and spending an enormous amount of time looking, it all came together in a brief moment. I had finally found what I was looking for, and there was no doubt. It was a feeling of relief, certaintly, and comfort; and I made an offer on their first lot that very day.

After spending more time at NRC, perusing countless cabin designs, and dreaming of the day that this would be where my own place would be built someday, I can finally put my finger on what it is that made me feel like I did:Tim and friends at an NRC waterfall

  • Ideal location: I mean the center of activity that I enjoy is the NOC, and Nantahala River Club has its own private road to the NOC campus. Perfect.
  • Hiking/Biking trails: NRC living is really a lifestyle. I didn't want to have to load up the car every time I wanted to do something, and at NRC you can walk or bike the roads and trails right on site and experience unimaginable beauty, countless wildlife, and amazing waterfalls. Perfect.
  • Lake Fontana: at first it was just the lake access I sought, and every lot owner will have use of the boat docks at NRC, but I later made the decision to trade my creekfront lot in for a lakeview lot. Now I will be able to wake to the view of the lake each morning and water ski in it each afternoon. Perfect.
So it's not hard to imagine why I feel this way, but you really must experience this to know it. If you think you might want to share in this place, give me a call and I'll be happy to show you around. In addition to owning Watershed Cabins, I am a licensed broker with Fontana Realty, so I can help you with the transaction, too. And then, if you are not quite ready to retire up here, Watershed Cabins would love to represent the rental management of your home for as long as you like. We're going to be here for the duration, and I'd love to have a few more select neighbors to share my little slice of paradise here on the Nantahala River.
